Honorverse
Honorverse is the semi-official name given to the framework (history, geography, universe) of a military series of science fiction written by David Weber and turning around heroin Honor Harrington.
The universe invented by David Weber in the novel Mission Basil has a “bottom” historical fiction, detailed, of Diaspora, where on several thousands of years humanity emigrated of our ground towards close stars thanks to vessels sub-luminic (see: Cryogenics) and thereafter discovered a means of travelling more quickly than the light by using " waves gravitationnelles" having several successive levels of increased effectiveness.
An important component of this hypothetical physics is that certain rare occurrences create the suitable conditions for a hole of worm, by which, correctly equipped, of the vessels can travel practically instantaneously between the various nodes of hole of worm, accelerating thus enormously the space flight along such conduits. Like the naval counters of the age of the veil located in the the Caribbean, or on the horns of the Africa and the South America, or currently places in the Far East the such India, Ceylon or the places close to the strategic straits in Indonesia, the possession of a hole of worm offers to the planetary system owner an important source of income by the right-of-way and of the increased commercial occasions compared to less lucky nations.
The fictitious analog with the state-nations existing on our world is the nation-star. Heroin, Honor Harrington, is originating in the stellar Royaume of Manticore located in a binary system with three inhabited planets. This system with the characteristic to have at the commencement of the series a node dcentral E hole of worm equipped with six termini (connecting it to stars: Matapan, Sigma of the Dragon, Grégor, Basil, Star of Trévor, and Phoenix). In the tenth novel of the series, a new hole of worm is discovered and explored, this hole of driving worm to a whole of stars (Amas of Talbott) which is brought to off hold the first role in the novel of opening of the derived series Shadow Saganami .
Since these holes of worm represent the equivalent of the commercial routes of the age of the veil, that gives to the constitutional monarchy of nation-star of Manticore a very important role in the interstellar trade and the trade in general. Like the British navy with the apogee of the British Empire, the space fleet of Manticore occupies a big role in the kingdom by maintaining the safety and the integrity of the economy of the nation, and it is financed to this end. But with the economic advantages and strategic desire and avarice come, and the stellar kingdom is the place of many intrigues and frictions with other powers in Honorverse: The League solarienne, the Republic of Harbor, the Empire andermien, and the large collection, chaotic most of the time, of various nation-stars, known under the badly adapted name of Silesian Confédération, where the pirates grind, and where apparently each one wants to make deals, wants to conquer, or wants to annex the whole.
There are some other historical parallels interesting with our age of the veil which are built-in this rich person together who takes place mainly after October 1st, 3961, birth date of Honor.
The technological advancements in the honorverse are slow and for the majority are older than the 500 years of existence of the stellar Royaume of Manticore. To the commencement of the series, the technological stagnation brought a similar stagnation in the strategies and tactical military. Thus, at the time of the engagements, the captains tried to place their vessels to maximize their firepower by employing the tactics of T used at the time of the men-of-war and the battleships of the age of the veil. Like Horatio Hornblower, Honor Stephanie Harrington is a commander of vessel confining with the genius.
Although the majority of the stories and the books put in Honor scene in a first role, more recent additions with the series include short stories and novels in which it is to him only refers. In certain cases it is because they occur before its birth; otherwise the described characters often made appearances (even short) in stories of Honor.
Universe of Honorverse
The space powers most important in the series are the stellar Royaume of Manticore, the République of Harbor (previously popular), the Ligue solarienne, the Empire andermien, Mesa, Erewhon and the Silesian Confédération.
