Honore V of Monaco

Honore Grimaldi was born in 1778 and is deceased in 1841. He is the son of Honore IV of Monaco 1758-1819 and Louise d' Aumont, duchess of Mazarin 1759-1826

Without alliance, it however had a son with his mistress Félicité Pronault de Gamaches, Louis Grimaldi (1807-1894) - or Oscar Grimaldi (1814-1894) for others -, titrated marquis of the Beams by his father according to the right Monegasque.

French titles

Initially baron de Monaco and of the Empire (imperial decree of the March 15th 1810 without letters patent): this simple title of title of baron is the reflection of the difficulties then encountered by the former reigning family of a principality annexed by France of 1793 with 1814.

Titrate of par with life, by ordinance of June 4th, 1814 of Louis XVIII of France, in favor of Honore-Gabriel Grimaldi, duke of Valentinois, prince de Monaco, confirmed on a purely hereditary basis by the ordinance of August 19th, 1815 of Louis XVIII. Titrate of hereditary duke-par attached to the aforementioned peerage, in favor of the same one, by ordinance of the August 31st 1817 of Louis XVIII.

These titles are many French titles:

  1. the “nationality” of these titles is prone to controversies since 1949 (see Titers of Grimaldi) but it does not go from there in the same way under the French Restoration.
  2. the fact that the ordinances of Louis XVIII are taken in favor of his/her son and not of the sovereign prince Honore IV of Monaco is in conformity with the practice of the Ancien Mode French where the holder of a ducal title could transmit it to a assured heir.
  3. Become sovereign prince (in 1819) of a last principality of the protection of France to that of the Kingdom of continuous Sardinia (in 1815), Honore V to sit at the French Room of the pars: he exposes economic designs to it “interventionists” who, on the spot, end to catastrophes for his subjects.
