Honed Menta (race)

The Pierra Menta is an international competition of Ski alpinism, which is held each year in March since 1985, with Arêches-Beaufort in Savoy, in the middle of the Beaufortain, on the slopes of the Large-Mount.

A total of 10.000 meters uneven positive, over four days, in sublimes decorations of covered with snow edges, connecting the rises harassing - fifteen tops with 2  000 with 2  687 meters - and vertiginous descents.

Thousands of spectators, climbing at dawn, accompany by their encouragements and their sonnailles, accordions, trumpets and bells, the sportsmen of high-level all along the course, to the cornice of the Large-Mount.

Honed Menta belonged to the Trophée of the Alps with the Tour of Rutor to Arvier and the Trophée Mezzelama with Champoluc - the highest race of Europe, with more 4  200 m of altitude, both in Valley of Aoste.

In 2006, the race takes place from March 9th to 12th. Approximately 175 teams took share there, and three to four thousand courageous spectators were present throughout the slopes and of the peak.

In 2007, the race takes place from March 12th to 18th. Certain teams of great value (Reichegger-Brunod and Brush-White) were absent due to preparation of the championships of ski of mountain the week according to. More than three thousand spectators were present, in spite of execrable time. The course passed by the small valley of Chizeraz, then the rise of stops western Large Mount.
