Honda Transalp
The term Transalp indicates a model of motor bike to vocation trail, produced by the mark Honda starting from 1987 and always with the catalog currently. This motor bike is a very general-purpose machine being able to be employed as well on the long road routes as in all-way.
The success of this machine was never contradicted from its exit; it conveys near the motorcyclists an image of reliability, longevity, handiness and versatility not very common. Still today, the price on the second-hand market is rather high for machines even a little old.
History
The first prototypes appear current 1985, initially been driven by engines 500 cm ³, then they will quickly adopt 600 cm ³ in " V" that one knows. Initially very typified cross-country, Transalp will acquire a look less typified and a more protective careenage before its final exit.
Models
The most current models are:- the XL600V as from 1987,
- the XL650V starting from 2000 which replaces the XL600V.
- the XL700V replaces the XL650V starting from 2008.
Other more confidential versions also exist like the version 400 cm ³ intended for the Japanese market.
Evolutions
The engine which equips the 600 Transalp is a twin-cylinder out of V, opened with 52° and liquid cooling. The first version develops 50 horses with 8.000 tr/min. This power increases with 55 horses for the years 1989 and 1990 to go down again and stabilize themselves to 50 chevaux. Side left cycle, as of 1991, the back brake with drum is replaced by a Brake disc 240 mms in diameter, gripped by a clamp simple piston. The front brake is modified in 1997. A second disc comes to reinforce that already present, but the diameter falls to 256 Misters.In 1994, esthetics is worked over again to stick a little more to the air time. Transalp adopts a news Tête of fork, as well as a new front optics. The drawing of the Carénage is re-examined.
In 1996, the Carburateur S are replaced by models 34 mms in diameter. The Allumage is also improved. Previously electronic with discharge of Condensing, it is from now on Transistor ized and managed by a Microprocesseur.
During its career, the 600 Transalp saw its weight climbing. If the first models are given for 175 kg dry, the last version posts 196 kg.
In 2000, the " Transalp" an important cure of rajeunissement  underwent;: new model XL650V replaces from now on worthy XL600V. Among a crowd of innovations, one notes:
- the engine which is taken again NTV Revere or another Deauville ; it benefits from an increase of 4 mm of the Alésage to offer 64 cm ³ additional and 55 horses to 7.500 tr/min. The couple is, him also, in progression, with a value of 5,7 mkg with 5.500 tr/min
- front damping is modified, the race of the Amortisseur back Pro Link adopts a “road” clearance more of 174 mm
- Nouvel exhaust,
- Nouveau drawing of the careenage,
- more rigid Cadre,
- Nouveau more modern instrument panel,
- the tank gains 1 additional liter,
- the weight decreases by 4 kg…
Small evolutions were brought in 2005 and 2006
A new evolution, was presented to the Living room of the two-wheeled vehicle 2007 of Paris, under name XLV 700 Transalp. This model marketed as from November 2007 comprises multiple improvements and modifications:
- New V52 engine of 680 cm ³, resulting from the Deauville, meeting the anti-pollution standards Euro 3
- Framework simple cradle duplicated out of steel tubes,
- New instrument panel,
- the nose gear wheel passes from 21 to 19 inches,
- catalytic Echappement,
- Optique superimposed double,
- Nouvel preparing representing a chart on which figure the Coordonnées GPS of the road of the Col of the Cap, higher road of Europe,
Transalp moreover gains, among many other options, the brake ABS, combined with the system Dual CBS.
Even if the vocation Trail remains present, this version 2008 is reinforced in its purely road use in particular with broader tires (110 mm with before and 130 mm with the back), a height of lower saddle, a clearance of the fork before less important (177 mm) that on the old models.
This model is sold 6 990 €, or 7 450 € in version ABS.
