Honda Civic

The Honda Civic is a model of the Car manufacturer Japan board Honda. First Civic appears in 1972, it is with its eighth generation. In 2001, it forsook its legendary suspension before with levers triangulated to use traditional struts.

First generation (1972 - 1979)

The first cars Honda are only 10 years old when Honda Motor Co reveals its last born Civic in July 1972.

This 5th generation of Civic is regarded by as one the most succeeded of much. It is indeed with this version that appeared, amongst other things, technology VTEC on the Civic. This quite particular technology proposes two profiles of camshaft, and this on the same tree. The profile of this last changes around the 4900-5000tr/min, to be more pointed; that allows the engines which have which it to profit from a great flexibility with low mode, and to have an engine more " rageur" starting from this mode juqu' with the interrupters, being located around the 7500-8000tr/min according to the models, making consumption more than reasonable with the sights of the performances, more than good vis-a-vis the current models (most powerful passes from 0 to 100km/h in 7.5sec, point with 212km/h, and consumes only 8.5-9l/100km in sporting control (http://www.zeperfs.com/fiche173.htm).

The Civic known also good number of versions, of the EX (EG3, 1300cm3, 75chx, carbu twin spool) in VTi (EG6, 1600cm3, 160chx, VTEC, multipoint injection and double camshaft), while passing by the LSI (EG4, 1500cm3, 90chx, injection monopoint) and ESi (EG5, 1600cm3, 125chx, VTEC, simple camshaft), all available in US versions, therefore crossed (the LSI makes 102chx then).

The options were also numerous, like the power-assisted steering, the electric panes, the electric rear view mirrors for almost all the models, as well as electric roof sliding, air-conditioning (automatic on certain VTi cut American EG9), saddlery leather and ABS (only for VTi) for the most equipped.

These models are also particularly reliable and robust, briskly being able to exceed the 250.000km if minimum maintenance is made within the recommended times, while profiting at the same time from a technology avant-gardist for the time.

Sixth generation (1996 - 2000)

Eighth generation, Europe (since 2006)

Produced with Swindon in England, it is lower and more compact than the preceding model. Initially, the most powerful motorization develops 140 ch (1.8l in diesel Essence and 2.2l in ). The European model differs appreciably from the models from on the other side of the Atlantic and Japan, and was besides finalist at the “world price of the car of the year” (WCOTY) in 2006 Design category vis-a-vis the BMW Série 3 and with the Citroen C4. The Civic Hybrid as for it preserves an aspect tricorps and a design closer to the Honda Accord, since it comes in fact from the range diffused in the United States and Japan; it was victorious category “conveys green” (World Green Because) with WCOTY.

In addition to engine 1,4 liter of line entry, the motorization of the Civic includes/understands either the block i-VTEC 1.8, or the 2.2 I CTDI (first diesel developed by Honda), both of 140 ch. L' I VTEC wants to be economic in lower part of 4000 tr/min, and powerful to the interrupter with 7000 tr/min.

In France, the model 3 doors is called Type-S (or To typify in its sporting version), and left in March 2007. It has a way postpones slightly widened and of specific shields and skirts.

At the same time as the Types, Honda declined Civic in Type-R version of 201 ch (a horse moreover compared to its devancière) which has one 2 liters I VTEC worked again which allows a release of VTEC as of 5200tr/min, and going up until 8000tr/min. This Civic Type-R obtains with a trussed frame and lowered 15mm, with a stiffened specific damping, a widened rear wheel-axle unit (as for the Types), with a more direct direction, a VSA improved and rims of 18 inches. A kit suspension (lowering 15mm and harder suspension) for the models 5 doors and Type-S was listed with the Honda catalog, but seems to have disappeared fault from homologation. A model called Type-RR carries the sportivity even further, in particular with the suppression of the majority of the bodies source of overweight such as audio air-conditioning or system.

This generation is also characterized by an optimized habitability. Thanks to the displacement of the tank under the seats driver, the trunk is of imposing size and has moreover a retractable trap door intended for a spare wheel in the countries where it is obligatory. Moreover space under the back seats is available, and the doors back for the model 5 doors open with 90°, this coupled to a system of hinged base of the back seats makes it possible for example to charge with the objects important height, for example two bicycles (without their nose gear wheel) placed head-digs hold easily. That also makes it possible the seats to be completely retracted and to offer a space of level with the trunk.

The next generation of the Honda Jazz will be based on this frame and will have a similar habitability.

Motorizations available

Honda Civic 1.8 Vti (MB6)

This version Berline ignored was marketed of 1997 with 1999. Manufactured with the the United Kingdom, the body part is borrowed from Rover. It is equipped with an engine Honda 1.8 of 170 ch and with a gear box 5 relationship with autobloquant Torsen.
