Honda Agreement
The Honda Accord is a Berline of the Japanese car manufacturer Honda. Since 1976 seven generations followed one another.
Since the first generation Honda Accord evolved/moved as well on the level of its dimensions, passing from the gauge of a compact truck to that of a family truck, as on the level of its equipment and its motorizations of qualities, which contributed to refer of this model on the American northern market.
1ère generation
The first generation of Honda Accord is marketed in 1976 in body 3 doors and a motorization 1,6 liters gasoline of 68 ch. L'Accord is larger than the Civic with a 4,12 m length and a footing of 2,38 m, for an approximate weight of 910 kg.
In 1977 the range comes to enrich by a body 4 doors.
In 1978 the Agreement is equipped with air-conditioning on completion LX.
In 1979 the range is supplemented of a new motorization 1,8 liters of 72 ch.la range with a new motorization 1,8 liters of 72 ch.
In 1980 the automatic gear box with 2 reports/ratios is replaced by box with 3 reports/ratios.
In 1981 completion SE, with leather seats.

2ème generation
The second generation is initially marketed in Japan and in Europe in 1981, then in North America as from 1982. It is the first Honda manufactured on the American ground in the factory of Marysville, Ohio. As of its launching and during 15 years the Agreement is a reference among the Japanese models. The important improvement of the quality controls, one makes it possible to do of this model one of most reliable of the US market, which is always the case today.
In Japan, a similar model is marketed at the same time, under name Honda Vigor .
Compared to the first generation the cockpit and the appearance were modernized. On the other hand motorization EK1 CVCC of 1751 cm ³ (75ch) is preserved. This driving block was all the same worked over again in order to decrease fuel consumption of about 15%. The Agreement integrates all the values esthetics of the time: carpet out of wool, interior velvet and inserts of chromium. It is available in the colors: money, beige and blue sky. Completion LX proposes a clock with digital posting and allows a fall of fuel consumption thanks to a reduction in the weight. The Japanese and European models receive fires before aerodynamics, while the American models north are equipped with fires before rectangular and beacons back in accordance with the American legislation.
In 1983, a new gear box with 4 reports/ratios is proposed in option. Completion SE (Special Edition) appears with the catalog, this completion includes/understands: seats out of leather, panes electric, a sliding roof with electric drive and a system of locking. A new color is proposed in option: gray slate.
In 1984, the models produce in America equalize in quality those produce in Japan. The body is slightly restylée (calenders), the restylés models are also called second series of the second generation. A new motorization ES2 CVCC, 1829 cm ³ of 86 ch, comes to supplement the range. Completion LX is packed with: an interior velvet, a car radio stereo cassette, an air-conditioning, brakes and a direction with electronic management, panes electric, an electric locking, a clock with digital posting, an antenna placed on the roof, of the side trims black installed of both dimensioned and integrated into the bumpers, as well as hub caps of wheels similar to those of Audi 5000. In the United States the truck in gray slate is a success, the waiting lists do not finish any. On the other hand the colors money, beige and blue sky are removed catalog and are replaced by a white color.
In 1985, the completion -I met the catalog of option. This completion takes again the components of completion SE and adds moreover: tinted panes, an audio system high of range and rims of 14 inches, but especially a new motorization gasoline with injection (from where the addition of - I to name SE) 12 valves of 1955 cm ³ of 110 ch. Ce driving block is the first not to be had technology CVCC, it is also the basic engine of Honda in the Eighties.
3ème generation
The third generation of the Agreement is marketed in Japan and in Europe in 1985 and in the rest of the world in 1986. This model has an attracting design, of close aspect to the second generation. The differences are at the level of fires before swivelling vertically (like a Toyota Sprinter Trueno), original for a truck, but also of the specific rear lights. A version with fires before fixed appeared in 1987 for the markets European and Japanese.This Agreement is the first Honda has to use a system with double triangle of suspension with before and with the back - a technology coming from the Civic and the Prelude of 1988 and from Integra of 1990 - although more expensive than the system Macpherson, this devices provided a better stability and handling of the vehicle. With series the Agreement is equipped with anti-roll bar. The brakes disc before and back with double pistons (Japanese model If) or the disc brakes before and back with simple piston or the front disc brakes with simple piston and drum brake postpones are available in option. ABS is proposed in options on the models equipped with disc brakes, but not American northern market. The basic models are available with rims steel of 13 inches and the high-end with rims alloy of 14 inches.

The cockpit is available in several completions of a level Spartan to a level luxates. In Japan the Agreement is sold with the options: interior leather, seats heating, rear view mirrors heating outside, digital instrument panel and air-conditioning. The version “Aerodeck”, body 3 doors similar to a station-wagon for the Japanese market and European, has seats “Recaro”. In order to preserve the image of cheap manufacturer of Honda these options are not available to export.
Throughout the world the Agreement exists in several body: truck 4 doors, half-compartment 2 doors, 3 doors and 3 doors " Aerodeck" resembling a station-wagon (nonavailable to the United States and Canada).
In North America, the Agreement is proposed with 4 levels of completion. In line entry, completion DX, available on the truck and the version 3 doors, includes/understands a speed controller, a de-icing rear window, a clock with digital posting, panes with hand drive operations, rear view mirror with hand drive operation, a system of manual locking, an audio system, an interior rear view mirror and of avoid-shock not painted.
Completion LX constitutes the midrange, in addition to the equipment of completion DX it integrates an air-conditioning, electric panes, electric rear view mirrors, an electric system of locking, a car radio AM/FM cassette, avoids shocks of the color of the body, a balustrade postpones and of the larger anti-roll bar.
Completions DX and LX are accessible with motorization A2A1 from 98 ch.
In 1986 the carburettor engines are identified by letters BS and the fuel injection engines by letters BT.
The completion high range, LX-i, includes an electric roof sliding (half-compartment and truck only), of the rims alloy 14 inches (truck only), of the anti-roll bars to the back and an audio cassette player. This completion is accessible with a motorization to injection from 110 ch (A20A3).

4ème generation
In 1990, the fourth generation of the Agreement appears built on the basis of frame CB. For the first time it is not available in version 3 doors. Another first, to Japan it is distributed by the network Honda Clio. In Japan, a nearby model (light alternative compared to the Agreement) named Ascot is marketed at the same time. In parallel Honda Vigor evolves/moves on its side to become a model with whole share, receiving an engine 5 cylinders on line.It is one of the first cars in the world to be had hook ropes of headlights transparency. All the models nonAmerican are motorized with one 4 cylinders of 2,2 liters with injection with electronic management.
This generation goes down directly from the first generation of Acura Legend. Larger than the preceding generation, it approaches dimensions of Ford Taurus, it however is always classified among the " compactes". The LX-i completions and EX-i of the third generation are not renewed. On the American northern market she is proposed in completion DX, LX, EX and EX-R (only for Canada). In certain countries completion EX is also called " Extra". The motorization 4 cylinders 125 ch d' line entry is available in completion DX and LX. On completion DX the speed controller is removed and air-conditioning becomes an option. When at completion LX, it preserves the same equipment as on the preceding generation. Finally completion EX, available with a more powerful motorization of 10 ch thanks to the widening of the exhaust manifold and the exhaust, it includes alloy rims of 15 inches, a sliding roof, an interior improved leather, a double exit of exhaust, anti-roll bars with the back and a car radio cassette.
In order to respect the regulation on safety NHTSA, starting from the 1990 all models are equipped with safety belts with automatic release. This system is replaced in 1992 by the installation of airbags.
New options are proposed like an automatic gear box 4 reports/ratios with management electronic and coupled to a fluid clutch, a reader CD, a charger 6 CD, the fog ones with front, a system warning, arrangements,…
In 1991, Honda launches the version station-wagon built in Marysville and exported in Europe (led on the left and led on the right). The station-wagon is only available in completion LX and EX, it lays out in series of a airbag side additional conducting side. To celebrate the 10 years of production in the United States, Honda markets a special series available in three colors: Arctic white, black pearl and green beads. Completion SE is reintroduced on the truck and the half-compartment. A version with retractable hardtop is marketed in Japan under the name Ascot Innova. This version adopts a different design, inspired by Honda Prelude of 1991.
5ème generation
In 1993, Honda markets the fifth generation conceived on the frame CD and chooses a presentation more cossue. Broader but less long than its devancière, the Agreement is recognized more like " compacte" in North America. To Japan, it comes thus chapeauter the models Ascot and Rafaga.It is the first Agreement from which American and European are distinct. The truck for Europe is assembled in Great Britain in the factory of Swindon. This model does not rest directly on the frame CD, but rather on an evolution of frame CB already used for Honda Ascot Innova. The half-compartment and the station-wagon, when with them, are built in the United States. The British car manufacturer Rover, partner of Honda, markets during this same period a model on the basis of Agreement called Rover 600.
In North America the Agreement is available in completion DX, LX and EX for the United States and in completion EX-R for Canada. This generation is accompanied by the improvement of the automatic box with 4 reports/ratios, a more ergonomic cockpit with in series two airbags and of the side reinforcements. Completion EX is accessible with a motorization 4 cylinders VTEC from 2,2 liters (announced for 145 ch it makes really 130 ch) and includes/understands ABS (in option on LX), of the rims alloys 15 inches (which are really of the 14 inches out of steel), of the disc brakes, an anti-roll bar with the back and an interior leather (in option). The Agreement is indicated Foreign Voiture of the year in the United States. The half-compartment resembles exactly the truck in version 2 doors and for the last time the station-wagon is marketed in America.
In 1995, the V6 engine of 2,7 L (C27) of Acura Legend is proposed on the US market, in order to compete with the V6 models of Ford Taurus, Mazda 626 and Toyota Camry. With the V6 motorization are assembled a double exit of exhaust, an automatic box with 4 reports/ratios, rims alloy of 15 inches and a specific grill. The remainder of the range evolves/moves very little, put aside the pallet of color. In New Zealand the V6 engine is replaced by one 4 cylinders of 2,4 L with the completion E.G.
In 1996, the Agreement a more crested design: bumper rounder, front face slightly modified, new headlights before and new rear lights. All the motorizations are conceived according to the requirements of federal office (OBD II). For more competitiveness the direction of Honda decides to use a common platform for all the Agreement sixth generation, while proposing body and dimensions adapted to each market.
In 1997 Honda markets a version " Special Edition" (nothing to see with completion SE). This one is proposed in three colors: gray metallized, red San-Sailor and black pearl. It includes a security system, a system of locking without key, a reader CD, side rods of painted protection, specific rims alloy, a sliding roof and an automatic gear box. This version is available with all the motorizations of completion LX.
6ème generation
The sixth generation is marketed as from 1997.

7ème generation
The seventh generation is sold since 2002 on the European market. The model marketed in Europe, product in Japan, is completely different from that of the American Northern market.
For Europe, the Agreement is declined in the truck 4 doors (4,67 m) appeared in 2002 and the station-wagon named Tourer (4,76 m) appeared in 2003. The Agreement is equipped with motorizations 4 cylinders gasoline of 2 liters (155 ch) and 2,4 L (190 ch), but so diesel since 2004/2005 with the 2,2 L of 140 ch; this engine is the first diesel motorization conceived by Honda. With series the Agreement is in particular equipped with the corrector of trajectory (ESP), of the antipatinage, a direction with variable assistance, 6 airbags, automatic air-conditioning, remote-controlled centralized locking, of an audio system 4 HP, a catch 12 V, of a wheel multifunction, panes before and back electric.
At the end of 2005, the body is slightly improved, in particular on the level of the grill with the integration of a bar in the center.
The Agreement European is produced in Japan where it is also diffused but in enough minor amount. The Japanese range does not include the diesel and is thus declined only in motorizations gasoline: one 2 liters of 152 or 155 ch, one 2,4 liters of 160 or 200 ch, as well as a sporting version Euro-R of which the 2 liters is carried to 220 ch. Elle is also available with integral transmission.
The American northern model is completely independent of the European and Japanese model. It is motorized by one 4 cylinders 2,4 L of 166 ch, as well as V6 3 liters of 244 ch and a hybrid motorization (IMA) based on the 6 cylinders (269 ch). This version " made in US" agreement is diffused in Japan under Inspire name.
