Envy

Manga :

C´est fourth Homunculus created by the “Father”.

Contrary to its attitude in animates, it shows ironic sympathy d´une species towards the Elric brothers and n´éprouve against them no particular resentment. It s´entend also rather well with Kimbley - undoubtedly parce qu´ils is both of the assassins without scruples… Envy was creates with the hearts of the people of the flourishing city Xerxes. Its true appearance shows it, it is a monster octopode from where emergent various human body which seems alive. We can make the assumption that an immense circle of transmutation surrounded Xerxes like Amestris in 1916… Envy east can be born somebody. Originally, can be that somebody was " attaché" in the center of the circle and that when the transmutation took place, this human was completely let absorb by the stone (hearts) of Xerxes. It is him which déclancha the war of Ishbal

To fight, its capacities of metamorphosis are quite practical, it can thus modify its body and is naturally gifted with the body with body. Animates:

Envy can take the appearance of its choice. He claims to have forgotten his appearance of origin and uses that of a being androgyne (which could leave us perplexed on his sex): actually, its véritage face resembles his/her father qu´il so much refuses to show it. It will nevertheless reveal its true appearance with ED before killing it. It is also physically very extremely and practically invicible with the combat with naked hands. It can partially modify its body to make there push points, blades,…

At the end, it disappears through the Door in the form from a dragon in order to find Hohenheim in l´autre world and to be avenged for him. Later, it will be captured and used by the company of Thulé to open the door of Shamballa.

It is him which sealed Greed 140 years ago.

Its mark of ouroboros is located on its left thigh.

Gluttony

One knows few things about this homunculus, only that he usually obeys Lust and that its ourobouros is tattooed on its language; in animates, it is known as that it is made only incomplete philosopher stone. That enables him to eat all the matters possible, which it breaks up with alchemy. Its saliva is a kind of acid (which dissolves the solid matters) what lets suppose that Gluttony is rather resistant to support it. Gluttony speaks little; do the majority of its sentences hold with “I can eat it? ”. He considers Lust as his mother (even if he never calls it thus).

Manga :

Gluttony is an attempt missed by father, to create a door of the truth. Its true form shows large resemblances to the door. Moreover " the vérité" in front of the door, resembles physically has Gluttony by the smile especially. It was destroyed by the chief of the homonculus after having almost exhausted the potential of the philosopher stone which it carries in him. It is however in the plans of its Master of the réincarner soon in another human body. New Gluttony pushes in the chest of Father.

Gluttony, which is usually just interested by “food”, dedicates a wild hatred with Roy Mustang (which killed Lust). When he sees it for the first time after the death of his comrade, the rage makes him show its true appearance of false door: an enormous belly on legs (one with the impression which its coasts opened, opening its belly from where emergent the door). Its ultimate attack consists of a monstrous outgoing ray of this door/stops, all that it key is disintegrated and swallowed. This mouth also makes it possible to be protected from attacks, by eating it quite simply (it swallows the flames of Mustang thus).

It is sixth Homunculus creates.

Animates:

Gluttony generally makes team with Lust and sometimes with Envy. Its important stoutness hiding place a frightening combatant. As in the manga, it is relatively limited intellectually and regards the human ones only as potential food. Gluttony is activated later by Dante to be used to him as defense against any intrusion in its attempt to use the philosopher stone. However, devastated by the death of Lust, it enters a great depression that Dante entreats by erasing Ouroboros tattooed on its language, which causes to push it in an impressive frantic madness. Thereafter, it is strongly possible that it ate Dante at the time of the attempt at escape of the latter.

It later is found a few years foaming the underground city in a monstrous form. It faces Wrath there before Al serf of their two bodies to open the Door definitively.

Greed

As its name indicates it, Greed (= avarice, greed) has as a gasoline to have insatiable desires, in particular that of immortality. For this reason the others homunculus regard it as a traitor and an enemy. He seeks to obtain from Edward the secrecy of the transmutation carried out to anchor to bind the heart of Alphonse in an armor, in order to use it to become really immortal. Greed is the “Ultimate Shield”, because it can use the carbon of its body to manufacture a extremely hard Exosquelette (carbon can according to its configuration, that of the Diamant for example, very resistant being). Its circle of ourobouros is on the left hand. Positioning as an enemy of Homunculus, Greed is oddly a relatively neutral individual in the history, he is very egocentric person, but does not place itself while opposing whoever (except his/her well heard ex-comrades), therefore he tries to arrange itself with Alphonse, by helping it, in the hope that this one will help it too.

Manga :

Greed thus positions out of the diagram which opposes the soldiers and the Elric brothers to Homunculus, indeed, it acts only for itself. Father being disturbed by the activities of this last envoit Wrath to eliminate it. Greed is finally killed rather early by Father, which plunges it in ebullient oil, recovering the Philosopher's stone who constituted it. It is however réincarné later on in the body of Flax while inserting this Pierre in the body of this last.

It is third Homunculus, creates 300 years ago.

Manga : Flax Yao/Greed

When Edward, Envy and Lin fall on Father and Alphonse after being left the belly Gluttony, Father decides réincarner Greed in the body of Flax, feeling that this one is sufficiently powerful to accommodate it. It thus establishes a philosopher stone to him, that Lin accepts, wishing immortality. Greed thus reappears, but its old memories were erased by Father (which could not let Greed escape to him one second time). It would seem moreover than Lin is still a little control on Greed (or rather, Greed lets it a little bit emerge in spite of him), which would mean that Greed supplanted only partially the spirit of its new body. Indeed, Greed entrusts a message to Edward written in the language which Lin speaks (but that Greed does not control) and says to him that Ranfan will be able to include/understand it. Moreover, from time to time, Greed say sentences which would correspond definitely more to the character of Flax, it says even to Wrath not to underestimate the human ones, a sentence which Greed truth never would rationally have pronounced.

Animates:

Greed was created by Dante it is very a long time. It was sealed 130 years ago by Envy then brought in laboratory 5, indeed its insatiable desires pushed it to separate from Dante. He escapes during the intrusion of the Elric brothers and releases from the dreams, which will dedicate a devotion without equal to him. Greed which was the homunculus not to only be with the service of Dante is the first of those only Edward keep silent. The homunculus, knowing that it would never have what it wished, learns finally with ED how to kill the others homonculus… In fact, Greed is almost left killed (let us say that it continues a combat that it knows lost in advance) by Edward, preferring death rather than to be still sealed. Its death disturbs much ED (which had never killed anybody before).

Lust

Manga :

Lust is a femme fatale, It is the second to have been homonculus creates. Lust generally makes team with Gluttony and Envy. With his great presence during the 1st part of the manga, one could think that it is an important homonculus. However it of it is nothing… Its capacity is dedicated to the combat: its hands can be transformed into telescopic claws.

Precisely with volume 10, after a first combat vis-a-vis Jean Havoc and with Roy Mustang, Lust arises victorious (it will tear even the gloves of l Alchimist of the flames, removing any possibility to him of practicing l alchimy whereas he suffered already by ground from a hemorrhage) but this last, having had energy to be raised, manages to draw on its hand a circle of transmutation with its own blood. S´aidant of the lighter of Havoc, it takes it by surprised and burns it lives then qu´elle s´apprêtait with s´attaquer with Riza and Al. L´Homunculus dies after having exhausted all its “lives”. Its last words are mysterious, it wished that Mustang live really the ultimate sacrifice of Amestris. Considering its Philosopher's stone was destroyed, one is unaware of if Father will be able the ressusciter.

Animates:

Lust generally makes team with Gluttony and Envy. It is learned that it is Homonculus created by the brother of Scar (this last wanted ressusciter its been engaged). Its tattooing of Ouroboros is with the hollow of its chest.

Lust is Homunculus rather recent, it was created only little of time before the war of Ishbal. Its capacity is simple but effective: its nails can lengthen ad infinitum, transpierce any matter and be as sharp as a sword, it is the “Ultimate Lance”. The desire of Lust is to become human, this is why it helps Dante to create the philosopher, even if it means stone to kill no matter whom on order.

L´humaine from which it was created, promised in marriage of the brother of Scar, was a dead Ishbalane young person d´une terminal illness; Lust remembers its past by flashes towards the oddment, mainly thanks to Lujon and in Scar. It is not basically malicious, but through living with Dante and the others homonculus it evolved/moved in their direction. Its desire was quite simply to become human and of living like everyone. Unless by wishing being human she wishes death?

Lust does not have anything against ED and Al, they are found just in two different camps. Like all Homunculus, Lust does not have a heart. They are not in so far as it cannot be let touch, and progressively series, it humanizes and raises more questions, instead of carrying out the orders directly. She does not hate nor does not love anybody in particular, but seems to have evil to make her decisions personally, at least at the beginning.

She is often with Gluttony which seems to regard it a little as a mother, but it is not known if she feels a minimum of affection for him. At the oddment, it joined ED et al. and betrays to them his; thanks to its assistance, the two alchemists manage to trap Sloth in a circle of transmutation and l´obligent with régurgiter its incomplete philosopher stone.

But the wish of Lust will never be carried out. Furious to see it s´attaquer with his/her “mother”, Wrath will l´immobilisera it thanks to its alchemy, then will slice the throat to him (Lust had already been weakened by the sight of its bones).

Pride

Manga :

Pride remains unknown during very a long time, its first appearance is done in Chapter 39 - Inextricable Exchange City where only its voice is made hear whereas it réprimende Envy. It reappears then in Chapter 49 - the monster come from the interior where part of its silhouette appears in the shade whereas it speaks with Wrath through a door. It is necessary to await Chapter 70 - The Original Homonculus (nonofficial title, only published in Japan) so that its identity is finally revealed: it proves that Pride is actually Selim Bradley , the adopted child of King Bradley (c.a.d. Wrath). It acts, according to its clean dires, of most powerful of the homonculus, as well as first ever to be created by Father , their Master. Several regards, the bonds which its two characters entretiegnent are significant:

- It is first of all interesting to note that Pride, while being for Wrath a kind of mentor, plays his sides the opposite part of that which it holds with the face of the world, where he is supposed being his son adoptive.

- Moreover, the more or less emotional bond which links Wrath with Pride, and which pushes this last not to reveal the states of heart of King Bradley to " Father" , pleads in favor of homunculus stripped of human heart, but not of humanity.

Pride threatens Hawkeye to capture it or destroy its entourage if it reveals its identity. Pride would indeed have the capacity of " téléporter" in any place or it y' has shade. Nobody is thus in safety face has Pride.

When the soldiers of Amestris de Briggs will invest the circle of transmutation, they will be made stop by an enormous black mass or one can recognize there teeth and a resembling eye has that of the door of the truth. This mass will reduce the cells of the soldiers. Pride would aim thus to supervise Sloth.

In the final published chapter, Father would be a homonculus in a bottle. Its appearance is exactly that of the capacity of Pride: a shade with the eye of the homonculus and the teeth…

One does not know yet where is its tattooing of Ouroboros.

Animates:

Pride is more known under the name of King Bradley, Généralissime of the army, which is not other than the most important title military, and also corresponds to that of Head of the State.

Its circle of ourobouros is tattooed on its left eye, dissimulated under a stringcourse of one-eyed. This “Ultime eye” gears down its vision: it is able to perceive until flows of air and with the sound waves. This capacity gives him phenomenal aptitudes fights some (it enables him for example to counter the control of the fire of Mustang, by slicing the air, which cannot help any more with the creation of flames). It is also only the homunculus which with the “capacity” to age. He is regarded as perfect by Dante, his masterpiece according to his clean dires.

He has a wife and an adoptive son, Selim, to hide his condition of homunculus. It acts on order of Dante, and organizes several massacres with an aim of obtaining the philosopher stone. After its handling and its true nature were discovered, it is killed by Roy Mustang in order to avenge his best friend, Hugues, is killed on order of Dante via Bradley. Besides this one will strangle his/her own adoptive son before dying, because it had, without it to want, brought what will cause the loss of his/her father: a piece of the body of that from which Bradley was designed and that it kept in its trunk so that he is unattainable (he had to leave the key to his son beforehand).

Sloth

Manga :

Sloth briefly appeared in chapter 31. It once again is seen entirely this time at the any end of volume 16. Volume 17 is entirely devoted to him and its tunnel which it digs. It is a true giant. The only means which the Armstrong general found to stop it is to freeze it because even the tanks made him only one thin égratinure. But Raven releases Sloth later on the orders of Father. It is him which apparently would dig the circle of transmutation around Amestris since the creation of the country by Father.

It would seem that the capacity of Sloth is to remember the attacks precedents, transforming its body for better boxing the same kind of attack later, it is nevertheless not very clear. It is fifth Homunculus creates by Father.

As its name indicates it, Sloth is terrible pretending (it should be said that it probably digs the circle since its birth). Nevertheless, he resigns himself by hoping that its martyrdom will be finished soon.

Animated:

Sloth is the homunculus that Edward and Alphonse Elric created while trying to make revive their mother thanks to the human transmutation. It thus resembles perfectly Trisha Elric. It is youngest Homunculus.

It integrates the army thanks to Pride, which gives him the identity of a woman whose military files were handled during the war of Ishbal: Douglas Juliet. It is under this cover that it appears for the first time in animated, promoted as a secretary of the généralissime.

Its specific skill to its condition of homunculus is the capacity to liquefy and control thus the water which composes its body.

One only learns well later who it is really. She will die transmuted by ED into ethanol, evaporating in the ambient air. Its death will largely affect Wrath which regards it as his/her mother.

Wrath

Manga :

Wrath is in fact the chief of the armed forces King Bradley. It was human at the base at which one injected false philosopher stone in him. It succeeded has to fight and its heart left victorious face there has all that of Xerxes. It kept the sin of anger of it. Per moment he envies the human ones and does not seem to hate them. Wrath does not seem so malicious only that, making jokes regularly, adopting an attitude very relaxed, etc… It is not known if it is its own character where if he plays the comedy, it is nevertheless, enough surprising and that slices with the character until one would wait of the leader of a country and especially of Homunculus placed under the old people's home of anger. Nevertheless, from time to time, during discussion, the true side of Wrath arises and he then shoots glance his interlocutor with a face where only a deep desire of murder emerges.

In chapter 53 - the road of the heart - one learns that it is resulting from a special selection carried out by the army aiming at creating a President for the country in which one involved it since his more young age. The test final was the injection of the philosopher stone in blood, King Bradley, which did not bear this name yet, was it twelfth guinea-pig. He fought so that his body does nothing any more but one with the stone and thus to survive and become anger. Wrath is only Homunculus besides that Ranfan, Lin and the other inhabitants of Xing cannot feel. Indeed, Wrath having succeeded in beating the hearts of Xerxès psychiquement, it kept its single heart, but one can precisely detected Homunculus because they have in them several hearts.

In spite of an always excessive worship towards Father, with volume 17 one is in right to wonder whether it will not change a camp… Indeed, Wrath is the only one to age (to guarantee its cover). That the gene and it feels injured with respect to other Homunculus whose power never declines.

Like Homunculus, its capacity lies in its left eye, where its ouroboros is tattooed and which is generally hidden by a stringcourse. This eye is really surpuissant: able to anticipate the movements and to detect things which the human eye is unable to perceive, which makes a very dangerous combatant of it, especially combined with its experiment of sabror except standard. Although naturally relaxed in normal weather, he becomes a pitiless warrior fights some, putting in part his enemies without any ounce of regrets. With the combat, it thus fights generally with the sword, often one or sometimes two, one saw it fighting with five swords during his duel with Greed (including four one been used for to him to seal the capacities of Homunculus).

It is youngest of Homunculus (if one excludes Lin Yao/Greed).

Animates:

The child of Izumi died of a miscarriage, and it is while trying to bring back it to the life thanks to alchemy that it will give birth to a homunculus, Wrath. At the time of this missed transmutation, Izumi lost several internal bodies. But the result of the transmutation did not have anything human, Izumi then sent Wrath behind the door.

When ED passed through the Door to bring back his/her mother then to save her brother, Wrath stole its arm to him then its leg. After years, he managed to open the door and awoke amnesic on the island of Yolk, it is there that he met the brothers Elric and Izumi. Envy made him swallow red stone, which returned the memory to him and made a servant of Dante of it. He thinks that while stealing the remainder of the body of Edward he will become human.

He behaves like a child and takes Sloth for his mother because he suffers “to be given up” by Izumi.

It is only the homunculus which can make use of alchemy and this thanks to the members whom it tore off with ED. Nevertheless, its alchemy is a little different from that of the normal alchemists, since what it transmutes most of the time is its own body.

Wrath arrives to remain in life (with Envy and Gluttony whose fates are more dubious), the members which were torn off to him by the spirits of the doors (those of ED in fact), were replaced by Winry as members of Car-email. Later, it will help Alphonse to open the door. He explains why he sacrifices himself to find his mom.
