Homomorfismo del anillo
A radio telescope is a specific Télescope used in Radioastronomie to collect the radio waves emitted by the Astre S. the radio telescopes are used, according to the wavelengths, as well for the study of the Sun, as for that of the stellar areas of formations, of the jet S of Microquasar S and active cores of galaxies, or of the cosmological studies .
General information
The Wavelength (respectively the Fréquence) of the radio waves highest being larger (respectively small) that of the light waves (of 1 mm approximately to more 1 km), the radio telescopes must have a sufficiently large size in order to form a clear radio image. The radio telescopes are made of collecting surfaces, made up of metal nettings, whose grid must be smaller than the Wavelength collected. The Miroir S of the radio telescopes must check the same constraints in terms of form of reflective surface as the optical telescopes. To give an example, the shape of the spherical mirror of the Radiotélescope of Nançay never moves away of more than 5 mm of the form of a Sphère.
The largest fixed radio telescope of the world is located at the observatory of Arecibo, with Puerto Rico: its parabolic aerial measures 305 m in diameter. The Radiotélescope of Nançay (in the Expensive, in France) is the third of the world by its collecting surface. Its geometry is particular: a plane main sewer collects the radio waves, which are reflected towards a second spherical mirror. After reflection on this second mirror, waves convergent towards a collector, laid out on a carriage which moves according to the Trajectoire of the source in the space. The diameter of the largest directional radio telescopes lies between 50 and 100 m; their resolution reaches approximately 1 minute of arc, that is to say appreciably that of the human eye to the visible wavelengths.
To reach moreover high-resolutions, one makes work a network of antennas. The largest telescope of this type is the Broad Very Array which should be before long supplanted by the Allen Telescope Array.
