Hominism
The hominism is a movement of reflection and action concerning the Masculinité, present primarily in the world Francophone. Compared to the Feminism, it is presented in the form of a symmetrical and complementary movement.
The principal fields of concern of the hominism are:
- the search for a male Identity removed from the stereotypes;
- the denunciation of the violences made to the men;
- the defense of the place of the fathers in the families;
- the search of the causes and solutions as for the school under-performance of the boys.
A “proclamation hominist” exposes these concerns in eleven points. The hominists regularly organize meetings under the name of “Congress of the male condition - Words of men”. First took place with Geneva in 2003, the second with Montreal in 2005, while third is envisaged in Belgium in spring 2008.
The most known organizer of this mobility is Yvon Dallaire, Psychologue and writer Québécois.
