Home Insurance Building

The Home Insurance Building is a building which was built by William the Baron Jenney (in particular) with Chicago in 1885 and which measured 42 meters. He is regarded by certain as the first Gratte-ciel in the history of architecture

History

Famous the Home Insurance Building was built between 1884 to 1885 in Chicago. William LeBaron Jenney was the architect. Five years after the beginning of its erection, two other stages were added. This skyscraper was demolished in 1931 and was replaced by the Field Building.

Characteristics

The most important characteristic of the Home Insurance Building is that this skyscraper was the first to comprise a structure of metal to support it. The skyscraper was mainly made up of steel and bricks. If the Home Insurance building had been entirely built hones some, it would have weighed more than three times more. At the end of the 19th century, its size was regarded as phenomenal: it comprised ten stages (then twelve in 1890) forming a 42 meters height whole.
