Homa Oumigdal

This Hebrew name means " Wall and forteresse".

It is about the name given to an operation of clandestine installation of Jewish cities in one night, in the years 1930.

History

That occurs in a context from Jewish immigration on the grounds from the Palestine which was under British mandate. Arab riots burst by refusal of the colonization growing of the grounds by the Jewish immigrants, and the Arab population showed a growing hostility. The the United Kingdom had already emitted two white papers envisaging to limit Jewish immigration and was opposed to the creation of new colonies. (see History of Palestine).

The colonists then planned the installation of new towns of clandestine way. That was to be done by surprised and very quickly, in order to put English and Arabic in front of the makes accomplished and to prevent that these installations are not prevented by one or others. Those were moreover resist Arab attacks.

Between 1936 and 1939, 51 pre-planned colonies were built, each one in only one night . The central element was a tower of guard, and walls surrounded these new cities. They were mainly installed in High the Galileo and the valley of Beith Shean, on grounds which had been bought by the Keren Kayemet LeIsrael (Funds Juif national in load of the purchase of grounds and the installation of colonists).

May 3rd, 1939, Great Britain emits the 3rd fine white paper putting at legal Jewish immigration and the support of Great Britain for the Sionisme.
