Holy Emérance

The holy veneration for Emérance is especially in the Département of Maine-et-Loire. One finds a vault with Rochemenier and Pouëze. There is a statuette with the the Member. In the Romance church of Cunault, it appears on one of murals. One finds it also represented on one of the pillars of the church of Lavardin (Dormouse and Expensive). It has a church with Pellouailles-the-Vines. There is also a Holy-Emérance fountain with Chanteau to 30 km of Châteaudun.

In the vault Holy Hubert with Courcelles, there is a painting characteristic of it: one presents it with in his apron of the stones. These stones symbolize the stones with which it was lapidated. Probably in 303. The legend says that it was the foster sister of Sainte Agnes.

She was called against the colics “Holy Emérance which cures the evil of the paunch” (known as the saying).

Taken colics the king Louis XI driving out in Forêt of Longuenée called upon Sainte Emérance. In thanks of its cure, it made rebuild the vault of Pouëze. Its festival is known as the 22 or January 23rd.
