Holy-Marie-on-sea

Holy-Marie-on-Sea was a common French of the Pays of Retz, located in the department of the Loire-Atlantique and the area Pays of the Loire administratively and in the historical area Brittany lies. Since 1973, it was absorbed by the common neighbor of Pornic and since July 1st, 2007 it is from now on only one subdivision of the latter.

The common belongs to the historical Brittany, in the traditional country of the Pays of Retz and in the historical country of the Nantes Pays. The inhabitants of Sainte-Marie are the Sanmaritains and Sanmaritaines .

Geography

Holy-Marie-on-sea is a borough on the Côte of Jade, with cut out coasts strewn with splits.

History

During a time, during the First Republic, Sainte-Marie bore the name of Rock-Peltier .

The commune of Sainte-Marie was attached to that of Pornic on June 1st 1973 (under the terms of the law Marcellin of the July 16th 1971).

The May 16th 2006, Sanmaritains voted for the complete fusion of the communes of Holy-Marie-on-Sea and Pornic to 50,83% (with a difference in 47 votes on more than 2800 voters). Indeed, since 1973, Holy-Marie-on-Sea enjoyed a statute of common partner with Pornic and had a deputy mayor of Sainte-Marie which was Jean-François Cossé and who was opposed to the fusion of the two communes.

At July 1st, 2007 ¹, after acceptance of the Prefect of the simple fusion of the communes of Pornic and Holy-Marie-on-Sea, the latter loses its statute of common partner and becomes a subdivision of Pornic.

Since simple fusion with the town of Pornic, Holy-Marie-on-sea and the latter represent a single electoral zone, which was the opposite previously.

Displacement of the market

From the end of March 2007 the market was moved creating a polemic between tradesmen, users and town hall. In the mail of the Country of Retz of April 5th, 2007 the writer of the article speaks about a " noxious environment in the bourg".
