Holy-Marie-Saint-Jacques
Holy-Marie— Saint-Jacob is a provincial electoral constituency Québécois located at Montreal. Limited to north by the street Rachel is, in the south by the Sea route of the St. Lawrence, in the east by the street Frontenac and the west, mainly by the Boulevard the St. Lawrence but also by the street McGill. Part of the Mount-Royal Plateau includes/understands (in particular the Parc Lafontaine), the Saint-Jacob districts, Sainte-Marie and Old man-Montreal. Also includes/understands the islands of the Parc Jean-Flag as well as the City of Le Havre.
This electoral constituency was represented by Mister André Boulerice (Parti Québécois) with the National Assembly of Quebec until September 14th, 2005, moment when Mr Boulerice forwarded to his resignation letter to the president this assembly. April 10th, 2006, the pequist Martin Lemay was elected to replace André Boulerice.
History
The district was created in 1988 starting from the old districts of Sainte-Marie and Saint-Jacob.The district of Sainte-Marie had been created in 1912 starting from the district of Montreal No 1, bearing the name of Montreal-Holy-Marie until in 1965.
The district of Saint-Jacob had been created in 1912 starting from the district of Montreal No 2, bearing the name of Montreal-Saint-Jacques until in 1965. Claude Charron was in particular appointed of this district of 1970 with 1982.
