Hohenzollern (province of Prussia)
The Hohenzollern ( German Hohenzollernsche Moor in ) was a province of the Royaume of Prussia. It was created in 1850 by the fusion of the principalities of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen and Hohenzollern-Hechingen after these two independent states were annexed by Prussia, and was directed by the Protestant branch of the Famille of Hohenzollern.
Hohenzollern consisted of only one county, that of Sigmaringen. The last census of 1939 gave a report on the number of 74.000 inhabitants; the capital was Sigmaringen. In 1946, the French military administration includes it in the state of Wurtemberg-Hohenzollern. Hohenzollern belongs to the Land of Germany of Bade-Wurtemberg since 1952.
