Hogarth ball

Burne Hogarth was a Dessin American ator , born the December 25th 1911 with Chicago in the Illinois, deceased the January 28th 1996. It is mainly known for its work on the anatomy, and the cartoon Tarzan of which he was the draftsman starting from 1936.

Biography

The career of draftsman starts early for Burne Hogarth. He sees himself entrusting as of 1935, the drawing of the daily strip ( Pieces off Eigh ), a history of Pirate S where he will draw decorations of a rather great complexity, illustrating the stopovers of the characters which he puts in scene. But it leaves quickly Charles Driscoll, the scenario writer of this Cartoon, and will thus work, starting from 1936, for the work which inserted it in the posterity. Indeed, it takes the changing of Hal Foster, and will put in image Tarzan , in the homonymous Cartoon. It expresses all its art there, putting its hero in the most delicate positions, where its musculature is put at severely tested. The decorations are also more particular (liana S disproportionate, Arbre S gigantic, complex tangles of Branche S) and show the love which Burne Hogarth carries to the Baroque art, to which its Cartoon can be comparable.

In spite of the public which it had acquired thanks to Tarzan , it decides to create another character, Drago (young person gaucho Argentinian fights about it against the baron Zodiac and its band of Nazis). However, it will not meet same success on this work, as on Tarzan . Even report when in 1948, it invents Miracle Jones , small a binoclard timid dreaming its life surrounded superb women. Each time, it had to be resigned to return on Tarzan .

He died in 1996, at the 84 years age, after being received like guest of honor of the International fair of the cartoon of Angouleme.
