Hoechst

Hoechst is a chemical and pharmaceutical group of German origin (Frankfurt). The Hoechst company draws its name from the city - Höchst, close to Frankfurt - where the company was created in 1863 by three German chemists: Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Meister, Eugen Lucius and Ludwig August Müller

It amalgamated in December 1999 with the French company Rhône-Poulenc to give the group Aventis (now Sanofi Aventis).
