Hochwanner

With 2.744 meters, the Hochwanner is the second highest top of Germany after the Zugspitze, if it is considered that the Schneefernerkopf, which is higher is only one additional top of Zugspitze. It is located on the border with the Austria (Land of the Tyrol).

It is more the high summit of the principal link of the Wetterstein, which extends from the Gatterl to the Oberen Wettersteinspitze while passing by Mittenwald.

Hochwanner remained a relatively ignored mountain, in spite of its altitude and its spectacular northern, high wall 1.400 meters (one of the highest rock faces of the septentrional Préalpes Eastern).

It is by error that the Watzmann, actually less raised, was indicated like the second highest mountain of Germany.
