Hitachiōmiya
Hitachiōmiya (常陸大宮市, - shi) is a city of Japan in the North-West of the Préfecture of Ibaraki to a score of kilometers of the capital of the prefecture, Mito. The city was founded on October 16th, 2004 following the fusion of the towns of Ōmiya and Yamagata and the villages of Gozen' yama, Miwa and Ogawa.
The total population rose with 47.556 inhabitants (23.173 men and 24.383 women) on April 1st, 2006. Entire surface is of 348,38km ² is 5,7% of the surface of the prefecture of Ibaraki. approximately 60% of surface are occupied by forests. The specialities of the city are the onions and the mushrooms shiitake .
The city is crossed by the rivers Naka-gawa (那珂川) and Kuji-gawa (久慈川) and the trunk roads 118,293 and 123.
