What follows is part of the history of the golf:
  • 1354 - the first reference is made by the introduction of the chole, probable ancestor of the golf. It is a drift of hockey played in Flandres.

  • 1421 - a Scottish regiment helping France against English with the Seat of Wallow will introduce a play entitled the chole. Hugh Kennedy, Robert Stewart and John Smale are honoured during the introduction of this play in Scotland.
  • 1457 - Gowf (such as it is known in British Isles), at the same time as the Football, is banished by the Scottish Parliament of Jacques II of Scotland to preserve the technique of the archers by prohibiting the gowf Sundays because it also interfered with military trainings for the wars against English.
  • 1470 - the prohibition of the golf is reaffirmed by the Parliament of Jacques III of Scotland.
  • 1491 - the prohibition of the golf is once again reaffirmed by the Parliament this time of Jacques IV of Scotland.
