History of the alpine settlement
The settlement of the alpine arc by the man is attested starting from the Paléolithique means (towards - 100.000 years) and is due to the Homme of Néandertal which establishes seasonal campings in altitude there, to the favor of the last interglacial period Riss - Würm (see also Glaciation). In altitude, the high valleys of the Arc, Isere, Doires Baltée and Ripaire constitute zones exploited for the green rocks necessary to the manufacture of the Hache S polished, exported as far as Brittany.
At the Ages of metals, the settlement increases with the exploitation of copper and the opening of the collars for the traffic towards Italy.
