The Histoire of the Jews in Nicaragua began only at the 20th century, the community, mainly of origin Ashkénaze is always retée very small and mainly emigrated at the end of the Années 1970 under the pressure of the mode Sandinista. Starting from the Années 1990 some members are turned over to the Nicaragua.

History

The first immigrants arrived at Nicaragua coming from Europe of the East after 1929, the majority is established in the capital, Managua. Emigration

It is estimated that the community reached its demographic maximum in 1972, it was then made of 250 members. However this same year an earthquake touched Managua and destroyed 90% of the city what led many Jews to emigrate.

After the revolution Sandinista, the mode confiscated certain land goods of the community and made imprison its president, Abraham Gorn which managed thereafter to escape and starting from the country, his members were established mainly with the the United States, some made them Aliyah in Israel and others reinstalled elsewhere in Central America.
