History of Pinocchio

The serial in the " Giornale per I bambini"

The text of the tale Pinocchio will initially appear in account with episodes under the title Storia di a burattino , in four successive stages, in 26 numbers of the Giornale per I bambini weekly supplement for the children of the Roman daily newspaper It Fanfulla appearing Thursday, day of rest of the children at that time (pulling 25.000 specimens). This newspaper is the property of Hungarian Emanuele Obleight and the director and editor association are respectively the florentins Ferdinando Martini and Guido Biagi, friends of Carlo Collodi.
First stage, 8 numbers, of the Thursday, July 7 (with N° 1 of the " Giornale per I bambini") at October 27th 1881 for chapters I to XV and the history ends then in the hanging of Pinocchio.
After three months and half of stop and following the many protests of the “small readers”, the publication includes in the second time for 6 numbers under the final title of Avventure di Pinocchio from February 16th to March 23rd 1882 for chapters XVI in XXIII.
Third stage from May 4th to June 1st 1882: 5 numbers concerning chapters XXIV to XXIX and finally, after a new interruption, fourth sequence of publication of 7 numbers of November 23rd 1882 at January 25th 1883 for chapters XXX to XXXVI with the happy end this time and that everyone knows: the puppet is transformed into true little boy.

These thirty-six chapters will be collected in a volume, after some author's proofs of which famous “the summary” at the head of each chapter, and published in February 1883 in the editor of Jewish origin Felice Paggi of Florence which already published other works of Collodi, with illustrations of " the ingegnere" Florentin Enrico Mazzanti, friend very close to Collodi.
