History of Oise
At the time of the Roman conquest the territory of the Oise is divided between various people Gallic. Most important is that of the Bellovaques which occupy the part vastest located on the right river Oise (Isara). The town of Beauvais car its name of that of Bellovaques. The Silvanectes live on left bank of the river. The town of Senlis holds its name of this tribe.
June 1st 987 after the death of Louis V the Lazy one, Hugues Capet, count de Paris east elected king with Senlis.
The department was created with the French revolution, the March 4th 1790 pursuant to the law of the December 22nd 1789, mainly starting from part of the province of Île-de-France.
