The museum Ingres is installed in the old palate of the bishops of Montauban, in France.
History
In 1851, Ingres, old of sixty and one years, gave to the city part of its collections, copies, work of pupils, Greek vases. The Ingres room was inaugurated in 1854.
The death of Ingres in January 1867 led to exceptional enrichment made up by the funds of workshop of the Master, in particular several thousands of drawings.
A radical rehandling, led 1951 to 1958, made museum Ingres an establishment modern according to the designs of the time, and equipped with inventories hitherto non-existent.
One finds there works of the two famous children of the town of Montauban:

- Antoine Bourdelle
