Hirudiniculture
The hirudiniculture is the breeding of Sangsue S at therapeutic ends .
One finds such breedings in the marshy zones of the Landes. Nourished 1 to 2 times per annum of Larva S of Insects and Tadpole S, they are fished in spring and the autumn between 18 and 24 months. Then they are subjected to a fast forced during at least 100 days so that they secrete the Hirudine, Anticoagulant 10 times more powerful than the Héparine.
Etymology
Hirudiniculture with the same Latin root as the scientific name of the leech (Hirudo medicinalis), hirudo which comes from hoero which means I adhere .
