Born on November 14th 1962, Hironobu Sakaguchi (坂口博信) was the director of the planning of Square Co., Ltd.. It is promoted executive vice-president in 1991, and becomes then president of American division.

In 2001, it carries out the ambitious Final Fantasy: the Creatures of the spirit , but will be isolated future production of Square Enix because of this commercial failure. It then founds in 2004 its own company: Mistwalker.
