Hippodrome of the Meadow
The hippodrome of the Meadow is located at Caen in the Calvados. It is a Hippodrome of trot with a track of 1954 m out of sand with cord on the right; the first race of Trotteur S was organized there in 1834. The most prestigious races are the Prix of the dukes of Normandy and Saint-Leger of the Trotters.
In 1864, a ministerial decree instituted the Company of the Races of Caen, ancestor of the Société of Encouragement of the French Horse, charged with regulating the code of the races to the Trot for whole France. The buildings of the Hippodrome of the Meadow are the property of the SECF.
