Hippocratic oath

The oath of Hippocrates is a traditional Serment generally lent by the doctors in Occident before starting to exert.

Legal requirements

In Belgium, there does not exist any obligation as for this one, the graduates doctors are free to pronounce it or not. In France, even if it is obligatorily lent by the young doctors and pharmacists , it does not have any legal authenticity; however the Code of conduct " émis" by the National council about the doctors (which is actually chapter VII of title II of the Ier book of the 4th part of the Public health code having milked with the professions of health), was largely inspired some, in particular with regard to measurements such as the obligation to collect the assent of the person before any operation, or the respect of the medical secret.

The oath that the doctors and pharmacists in France make is not the Hippocratic oath of origin, even if it is inspired by it. One of the principal differences is that the Hippocratic oath explicitly prohibits to practice the Avortement; it prescribes also duties vis-a-vis that which taught medicine.
