Hippeis

In ancient Greece, the hippeis or riders was those which could maintain a horse, to nourish it and for this reason it was necessary to have ground and to have a harvest of more than 300 measurement of corn. If it reached more than 500 measurement of corn they became pentacosiomedimes (penta=5 and medimes=la currency of the time).

The hippeis were obligatorily citizens, that wants to say that they were to be born of a father citizen and a mother girl of citizen.

The hippeis had access to the magistrature (the Ecclésia, the Stratège S, the Archonte S, the heliée and the Boulè).
