Hipparque , in Greek old († Athens, -514), one of the Pisistratides, Tyrant of Athens.

Wire junior by Pisistrate, it receives with dead this one, in -527, the capacity jointly with his brother Hippias. According to Thucydide, he is nevertheless only one marionette, and the true capacity is with the hands of Hippias. Fine well-read man, it accommodates at his court the poets Anacréon and Simonide de Céos, and constitutes an imposing library.

In -514, it is assassinated by the Tyrannoctones, Harmodius and Aristogiton. If it is necessary to believe Hérodote and Thucydide of it, Harmodius had pushed back the advances of Hipparque. This one to be avenged, had then refused to admit the sister of Harmodius among the Canéphore S of the Panathénées, insinuating that it was not virgin. Furious, Harmodius then set up its conspiracy. -----
