Hildegard Goss-Mayr (born the January 22nd 1930 in Vienna in Austria) is a major witness of the evangelic Non-violence in the world. It is the president of honor of the MIR and member of the committee of sponsorship of the French Coordination for the Decade and of that of the international Coordination for the Decade of the culture of peace and non-violence.
Girl of Kaspar Mayr, founder of the Austrian branch of the MIR, Hildegard Goss-Mayr made her studies of philosophy in Vienna and New Haven (A). In 1953, it is the first woman to obtain her doctorate sub auspiciis .
1958 It marries Jean Goss (1912-1991).
1960 Birth of his/her children Myriam and Etienne.
1962 It begins its work in Latin America in favor of the construction of a non-violent movement. She collaborates then with Dom Hélder Câmara, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel which obtained the Nobel Prize of Peace in 1980, Dom Fragoso, bishop of Cratéus (Brazil), or Mgr Oscar Romero.
Elle had a determining role with her husband Jean Goss in the preparation of the Revolution in Philippines in 1986.
Elle made of many groups to active non-violence in Latin America, Asia and Africa.
Distinctions
Named for the Nobel Prize of peace in 1979 (allotted to Mère Teresa), in 1987 (in Óscar Sánchez Arias) and in 2005 among the “1000 women for the Nobel Prize 2005”.
