Hilaire (mythology)

In the Greek Mythology, Hilaire , or Hilæra girl of Leucippe and Philodicé, are a priestess of Artémis, while his/her sister Phœbé is used the worship as Athéna. Both are known under the name of Leucippides. According to Pausanias, quoting a lost passage of the Songs cypriens , they are rather the girls of Apollon.
The two sisters are removed by the Dioscures, and Hilaire marries Castor, of which it has a son Anogon.
Phœbé and Hilaire were the subject of a heroic worship with Sparte.
Hilæra is cousin of Idas, of the family of Gorgophoné wife of Périérès and Œbalos.
Phœbé is the woman of Pollux.
