The highway Dutchwoman A1 (in Dutch Rijksweg 1 ) is a highway Dutchwoman.

She begins with the exchanging from Watergraafsmeer in the east from Amsterdam and she finishes close to the village of Of Fight on the German border, from where she continues like BAB30 in the direction of Osnabrück.

Between the exchangers of Watergraafsmeer and Hoevelaken, the route of A1 corresponds to the E231. Between Hoevelaken and the Germany, the route corresponds to the E30, while passing by Apeldoorn, Deventer, Almelo and Hengelo.

October 27th, 1993, one opened between the exchangers of Diemen and Muiderberg a way reserved for the Covoiturage, the first of this type in Europe. Only the vehicles having three passengers or more had the right to borrow this way. The objective was to reduce the congestions to this place. The experiment did not meet a big hit: the length and the frequency of the congestions did not decrease, and sees it reserved was not employed in an intensive way. Starting from September 1994, the way from now on is reserved to increase the capacity of the highway at the rush hours (swing of the possible way in the two directions).
