Highway 740

Québécois Expressway, the Autoroute 740 now named Autoroute Robert-Bourassa (before Highway of the Small valley ) serves the town of Quebec. It connects the boulevard Laurier (Route 175) in the commercial sector of the Holy-Foy-Sillery district and continues in urban boulevard beyond the Lebourgneuf boulevard after the exchanger with the Autoroute 40.

The highway borrows a 300 m length tunnel to pass under the Chemin Holy-Foy and the Chemin Four-Middle-class man.

The prolongation of the highway in the form of urban boulevard was inaugurated in November 2006.

Within the framework commemorative of the 10th birthday of the death of the former Prime Minister for Quebec Robert Bourassa, the highway whole of the Small valley, including the addition, was renamed in the honor of that which will have been at the origin of the hydroelectric development of the Bay-James. The current highway, with the intersection of the boulevard Bay-tree, finishes at the important building of Hydro-Quebec; it is about a symbolic system presence which was a factor in the choice of this artery to bear the name of Robert-Bourassa, instead of the street Saint-Amable which one had considered before.
