Highway 550
projected Québécois Highway, the highway 550 would be located at Gatineau and would be a road of skirting of the town of Gatineau. It would facilitate the bonds with the west of the town of Ottawa and would facilitate the access to the highway 416 starting from Québécois bank. This would reduce the traffic on the highways 5 and 50 like in the downtown area of Ottawa. This project would have also required the contruction of a new bridge on the Rivière of Outaouais.
In 1996, the Ministry for the Transport of Quebec declared that it was not at present necessary of constuire a way of coutournement of the town of Gatineau. On the other hand, the corridor of the highway was preserved in the evanutality to build a boulevard or a highway in partnership with the Commission of the National Capital.
