Québécois interurban Highway, highway 10 is also named Autoroute Bonaventure with Montreal and Autoroute of the Canton-of-the Is Pont Champlain at its end Is. It serves the areas of Montreal, of the Montérégie and of the Canton-of-the Is. It spreads out downtown area of Montreal (prolongation of the street University) to the town of Sherbrooke. It is thus the principal road bond between the metropolis and the Canton-of-the Is, area tourist very appraisal. Besides it passes to the foot Mont Orford. Formerly, the highway of the Canton-of-the Is was a turnpike and raised of the Office of the Highways of Quebec. The system with toll was abolished in 1985. The Bonaventure highway is not exploited by the Ministry for Transport of Quebec, but by the owner of the highway, that is to say the company the Bridges Jacques Cartier and Champlain Incorporée, subsidiary of the Company of the federal bridges Limitée, pertaining to the Canadian government.

Between exits 121 and 143, the 10 overlaps the Autoroute 55. This section formed originally part of the Autoroute 55 and the exits followed the numeration of the latter. At that time, the 10 finished at exit 121 in Magog (junction 55). When the highway was prolonged beyond exit 143 (1988), the exits of the common section were renumbered according to the 10.

Previously, highway 10 had a length of 154  km (96  semi). But, in October 2006, the last section of the highway, is exit 143 to 154, was renumbered Autoroute 610. Thus, at present, highway 10 finishes at exit 143 (junction Autoroute 610), but the highway does not finish, it becomes exclusively the Autoroute 55. (The 10 and the 55 form one multiplexes between kilometers 121 and 143 of the 10 and 34 to 56 of the 55.) At the level of the Taschereau boulevard to Brossard (left 8), this highway is blocked partially by work since a very large reconfiguration of the exchanger A-10/R-134 (Taschereau boulevard) is in hand. Work will last until December 2006 and began in 2002).
