Higher mid vowel posterior round

The posterior higher mid vowel round is a vowel used in certain languages. Its symbol in the International Phonetic Alphabet is, and its equivalent in symbol X-SAMPA is o.

Characteristics

  • Its Degré of aperture is average superior, which means that the language is positioned with the two-thirds of the way between a high Voyelle and a Mid vowel.
  • Its Joint is posterior, which means that the language is placed as far as possible at the rear of the mouth.
  • Its Caractère of roundness is round, which means that the lips are round.
