High treason

An action of high treason is a Crime which consists of an extreme disloyalty with regard to a Pays or of sound Head of State. The most known examples of high treason are: to take part in a War against its own country, to try a Coup d'etat and to try to assassinate the Head of State of his country.

In the history of the English Right, one distinguishes the high treason from the petty treason , which generally consists of the assassination of a Master by his servant. It was regarded as a crime more serious than the murder.
In the American Constitution, “treason” takes the direction of high treason.
