High commission from the United Kingdom in Ottawa
The British High Commission in Canada is the High commission the United Kingdom with the Canada. It is located at the 80 Rue Elgin in the center of Ottawa, vis-a-vis the National center of arts and not far from the Colline of the Parliament. The current building was inaugurated in 1964. Previously the site sheltered the Union Hotel, builds in the years 1850 then demolished in 1962.
Current High-Commissioner is Anthony Cary, which replaced Julian Evans, which took over temporarily the duties, in February 2007. Julian Evans had replaced David Reddaway in August 2006. The United Kingdom has a Consulate-general with Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. It has honorary Consuls with St John' S, Halifax, Quebec and Winnipeg. The High commission also represents the colonies and dependences of Courrone in Canada. The High-Commissioner resides at Earnscliffe, a manor on the Rivière of Outaouais.
