Hieratic Writing

See also: Hieratic

In the ancient Egypt, the hieratic writing made it possible the scribes to quickly write by simplifying the Hiéroglyphe S and was used in the administration.

The hieratic writing is in fact the second level of simplification of the hiéroglyphes, the first being the linear hiéroglyphes, which are simplified versions of the hiéroglyphes, but which keep their representative value. The hieratic characters, them, do not represent any more of the arbitrary objects, but only signs with the manner of the letters of an alphabet.
