In April 2003, it carries out a test with Southampton which proves to be conclusive, however the English authorities refuse to deliver to him a work permit due to nonconformity with the payments of the English Federation which requires that the recruited foreign player dispute 75% of the official matches played by his national team during the two last years. Unfortunately and although there presented a doctor's certificate to justify its absence at the time from both matches which it missed, the English federation remained inflexible.
