Hiéronyme
Hiéronyme is the last Tyran of Syracuse, of 215 with 214 av. J.C. (or 216 to 215 according to other chronologies). It succeeds his grandfather Hiéron II old 15 years. Though Hiéron II prepared this succession by the accompaniment of a Trusteeship Council, one of the members of this council Andranodore, uncle of the young prince, pushes it with the vice to exert the power in its place.
This succession proceeds at one crucial moment of the Second Punic War, when the series of victories of Hannibal shakes the Roman domination. Influenced by the party anti-Roman and the Carthaginian ambassadors Hippocratès and Epicydès, Hiéronyme gives up Roman alliance with the profit of Carthage. Disorders confused ignite Syracuse, and Hiéronyme is massacred with the royal family after 15 month of reign.
Hiéronyme was the first ancient king who struck currencies with his effigy.
