Heshvan

Heshvan (Hebrew: חֶשְׁוָן ), of its complete name Mar' heshvan (Hebrew: מַרְחֶשְׁוָן , is the 8th month of the Hebrew Calendrier according to the biblical calculation, and the second of the Jewish calendar year. In the Bible, one calls it Boul (v. in particular I Kings 6:38). It is one month of autumn 29 days , except for the years " complètes" , where it has 30 days. Heshvan generally falls in October - November from the Gregorian Calendrier.

Within sight of its etymology Akkadien ( wara' hsamnu , reads. " eighth month "), it seems that the מ and the ו were reversed, after which the first two letters מַר ( mar ) were then reinterpreted like the Hebrew word meaning " amer" (cf Maror), referring to the fact that the month contains neither festival nor fast, except at the Beta Israel (cf will infra). Mar can also mean " small drops " ().
