Herve Van Laethem
Founder in September 1999, in Belgium, of the " Movement for the Nation " , today known under the name of " Movement Nation ". He is elected national secretary of this last. Herve Van Laethem is a figure impossible to circumvent even if it does not occupy any more the function of national secretary of the Movement. He was several times condemned for racism by Belgian justice, in 1997 and 2006.
Herve Van Laethem is the leading one, since end of the year 80, the extreme most radical line. He is the Belgian contact of a nationalist European network. He began his militant career in 1982 and passed by the directions of several nationalist vaults, openly ultra-nationalists for the majority of them: the European Left (EPE), the European Movement, Vlaamse militanten orde (VMO), the VMO-Brussels, the group the Attack, the committee Brussels-Identity-Safety ((A)), the new Face of Belgium (FNB)… He also collaborated in the drafting of Polemic-Information, a confidential newspaper of ultra-right-hand side directed by Alain Escada. Van Laethem, at the time where it still directed the ultra-nationalists of the Attack, negotiated an electoral agreement, for the legislative elections of 1991, with the National front of the doctor Féret (electoral agreement with the FN that Van Laethem will denounce considering the attitude and the lack of ethics of Féret). Herve Van Laethem was one of most radical nostalgic and faithful of fire Leon Degrelle.
He was also militant of freedom of expression for the negationnists. It is its group the Attack which dealt with the safety of the French negationnist Robert Faurisson, when this one moved in Belgium. The Attack diffused also the propaganda of VHO, a movement Flemish negationnist. The support for the negationnists will continue until today. The Nation movement of Herve Van Laethem gave thus its support for Roeland Raes, vice-president of the Vlaams Blok (of 1978 in February 2001), when this one caused a polemic after its remarks pro-négationnistes made in front of the cameras of a television Dutchwoman. It should be known that since the beginning of the Eighties, Van Laethem and Raes attend same political mobility.
Van Laethem remains in addition in close contact with Alain Escada. Organizer of very catholic demonstrations, Alain Escada can for those count on the service of order of the Nation movement.
