Herve Mariton
Herve Mariton (born the November 5th 1958 with Algiers then French Department of the Algeria), is a Politician French, Député of the Drome since 1993, Maire of Crest since 1995, Minister for Outre-mer in the government of Dominique de Villepin of the March 26th to the May 15th 2007.

Raised with the Louis-the-Large College in Paris, Herve Mariton is Engineer of the Polytechnic school, holder of a DÉA of Gestion and graduate of IEP of Paris.Married, he is father of four children.
Political career
He enters in policy to the UDF where he is acting general of UDF-AD. National secretary of the Republican party then of liberal Democracy, he is candidate vis-a-vis for Francois Bayrou for the presidency of the UDF in 1998, collecting 10% of the votes.Herve Mariton gains the seat of deputy of the 3rd district of the Drome, but fails to be made re-elect at the time of the election according to legislative dissolution in 1997.
Near a time to Charles Million, he is elected vice-president of the District council of the Rhone-Alps in 1998, where the executive is supported by the voices of the elected officials of the National front, then hinge group to form a regional majority.
In 2002, it joined the any news UMP and finds its armchair of deputy the June 16th, for XIIe legislature (2002 - 2007), in the 3rd district of the Drome.
It becomes in 2006 one of the more fervent supporters of the Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin against Nicolas Sarkozy. It enters to the government in March 2007, succeeding François Baroin, with the function of Minister for Outre-Mer. At this same period, he announces his rallying with Nicolas Sarkozy for the presidential election which follows.
He asserts himself “liberal pragmatic”, and created with François Goulard the club Réforme and Modernité, in 2006.
Candidate for his re-election as an UMP deputy, for XIIIe legislature (2007 - 2012) in the 3rd district of Drome, it is re-elected with 52,62 % of the votes, with the second turn.
In 2003, it was one of the rare UMP deputies to be favorable to the American military intervention in Iraq.
