Herrmann model
The Modèle Herrmann - Herrmann Brain Instrument Predominance (HBDI) - was created by William " Ned" Herrmann (1922-1999) (North Carolina). It is about a Métaphore which is limited to represent the modes of data processing individuals.
Concept
From research on the brain, Ned Herrmann (1922-1999) developed a model of the operation of the spirit. This model called " Herrmann" model; represent in the shape of a circle divided into quadrants, 4 big families of modes of data processing:
-
left mode (associate with the left hemisphere of the Brain): reason and method
- right mode (associate with the right hemisphere of the Brain): feeling and imagination
The principal set of themes of the approach developed by Ned Herrmann, is particularly known under the name Cerveau left right Cerveau . Ned Herrmann, responsible formation in General Electric, had been interested in the question of knowing why it was at the same time creative, (attracted by arts) and scientist (physicist). It was interested in work of Roger Wolcott Sperry, Nobel Prize of Medicine for research on the cerebral hemispheres in 1981. It associated the studies of the Neurobiologiste Paul D. MacLean, which posed the triunic theory of the Cerveau: the brain reptilien, the system limbic and the neocortex, known as also cortical, pilot system of the human evolution.
Ned Herrmann developed a series of tools of evaluation and formation used by the specialists in human resources for the development of competences of the people in a great number of countries. These tools are based on an inventory of preferences: Herrmann Brain Predominance Instrument (HBDI), comprising 120 items, which, after treatment within the framework of the model, provide an image of the preferential modes of treatment used by a person.
The method is more particularly used within the framework of the company. It aims at developing at the people, by the knowledge of the mental preferences , one more large Créativité, in fields as varied as the Stratégie, the Formation, the Marketing or the Management .
Development in France
It was introduced in France in 1986 by Lionel Vuillemin and Jean-Louis Lascoux.
It is developed under exclusive license by Herrmann International.
The model: a metaphor of the brain
-
A. analytical Mode.
- key Words: logic, factual, critical, technical and quantitative.
- Points of force: compile the facts, analyzes, argues rationally, formula of the theories, measures precisely, solves the problems logically, reasons, includes/understands the technical elements, analyzes critical, work starting from figures, of statistics, is precise.
- B. sequential Way of thinking.
- key Words: careful, structured, organized, detailed and planned.
- Points of force: notice the defects, practically approaches the problems, goes until the end of the things, develops detailed plans and procedures, considers the problems in terms of planning.
- C. interpersonal Way of thinking.
- key Words: interpersonal, emotional, spiritual, sensitive, kinesthetic.
- Points of force: includes/understands the relational difficulties, anticipates felt others, includes/understands felt others intuitively, perceives nonverbal elements resulting from the stress, generates enthusiasm, persuades, reconciles, sign, division, includes/understands the emotional elements, takes into account the values.
- D. imaginative Mode.
- key Words: holistic, intuitive, intégratif, synthetic and conceptual.
- Points of force: Reads the signs of the change, sees the things overall, recognizes the new possibilities, tolerates ambiguity, integrates the ideas and the concepts, defies the established rules, synthesizes the various elements in new all, invents new solutions, solves the problems in a way intuitive, just into simultaneous various inputs.
