The evaluation of risks GMO for the environment , defined in the European Union by the Directive 2001/18/CE, is the evaluation of the risks, direct or indirect, immediate or differed, that the voluntary dissemination or the marketing of GMO can comprise for the human health and the environment.
In the case of the proceedings for grant of the authorizations of marketing of the GMO, this evaluation must be made in accordance with the criteria of appendix II of the Community directing 2001/18/CE relating to the voluntary dissemination of genetically modifés organizations in the environment.
