The herpetic infection is a Viral disease chronic person in charge of cutaneous eruptions repeating. It also represents the first cause of genital ulcerations in Europe. The genital herpes supports the transmission of the virus of the AIDS. Repeating and painful affection, the genital Herpes is responsible for the frightening herpes néonatal.

Virus

  • the virus of the herpes, Herpes simplex virus ( HSV ), belongs to the same family as the virus of the Varicelle and the Zona, than the Cytomégalovirus (or HHV-5), and the Virus of Epstein-Barr.
  • the virus of herpes (HSV) includes/understands two types:
    • HSV-1 responsible for the oral herpes, neuro-meninx, opthtalmic;
    • HSV-2 responsible for the genital herpes.
  • Persistent during the whole life in spite of the immunizing response of the firstly infection
  • the HSV are viruses dermoneurotropes, like the virus of chicken pox, they persist the whole life in the Ganglion of Gasser for the HSV-1 and the ganglia crowned for the HSV-2.
  • the manifestations of the infection with HSV-2 gather three entities:
firstly the herpetic infection
  • infectious recurrences
  • initial genital herpes nonprimary: first contact with a HSV-2 at a person having already made a primary infection with HSV-1.

    Epidemiology

    The contamination is strictly inter-human for the two viral types. More than 90% of the adults were in contact with virus HSV. However, only a small proportion of these individuals will develop demonstrations of infection with the virus: herpetic primary infection and recurrences. The prevalence of the labial herpes is from 15 to 30% in the adult, half presenting at least two recurrences per annum
