Heroic Tribulations of Balthasar Kober

the heroic Tribulations of Balthasar Kober is a picaresque novel of Frédérick Tristan published in 1980 which reports the adventures of a young German towards 1600. Orphan, stammerer, it crosses the Germany ridges some with the religious problems. Helped by a brotherhood of alchemists and kabbalists, it ends up finding in Venice a young actress whom it met by chance and with which it fell in love because, in her eyes, she represents the Grace. This history based on the relationship between the visible one and the invisible one was carried to the cinema by the Polish director Wojciech Has, the realizer of the “Manuscript found in Saragossa” of Jan Potocki.
